Dell offers Ubuntu

The computer maker Dell will announce today that they will be offering PC’s with the Ubuntu 7.10 operating system as part of the new look Dell computer set up.

Dell have been offering Linux on the a range of PC’s since June 2007, but the Inspiron 530N desktop and the Inspiron 1420N notebook will be including the new Ubuntu system pre installed. This will also mean that the computers will be able to watch movies on DVD as they will be pre-installing DVD movie playback on all of the Ubuntu powered computers.

It has been known for a long time that Dell had planned this, ever since the introduction of the Ubuntu 7.10 release.
