The Singularity Summit 2007

The summit focussed on just one thing, are computers reaching the point where they are becoming smarter than humans, and with some of the humans that I have seen over the weekend that would not be that hard.

Yet a whole bunch of techie type people got together over the weekend just to discuss this and what would happen should the humble PC become smarter than its owner. And some people are thinking that it is only a matter of time before this happens and plans should be put in place to develop some ethical guidelines.

This has been mocked by many people who think that these people are just taking things too far, some have even described it as the Nerdocalypse which may be a little over the top, because it may only be a matter of time before we see the Rise of the Machines and we will all be doomed.
