Tell the boss if you use an Xbox as a server

IT departments will always make do and mend, it’s a natural thing to simply fix something and if it works ok, just leave it to run. But this is okay until the people in the department have left leaving a new team to fix any problems.

This particular organisation is a university and when all of a sudden the web access and web site went down, the phones started to ring and so the IT department needed to find the solution fast.

However, fortunately for this particular team, there was one of the old firm still working and he knew exactly what to do. But to his shock the server had been removed, the server in this case was an Xbox.

Apparently the new manager had been hunting around the server room and noticed the Xbox and decided that the IT crew play with it when they are not busy, and so took it home for his son to play on!
