Bloggers get free access to Britannica
Before the internet the Encyclopaedia Britannica may have been one of the resources which researchers would turn too should there be an issue that needed clarifying. But like the music industry as the internet began to take off, sales of the £700 set of books have fallen away.
But even the online resource has suffered at the hands of Wikipedia where apparently for each page that is accessed on brittanica.com 184 pages are looked at on Wiki. But they do charge around £35 per year to access the brittanica.com site.
As in time honoured fashion the people behind brittanica.com have finally seen the light and have introduced Britannica Web share, this is where a user a can apply as being web publisher. These are people who regularly publish work on the internet. A person applies by supplying details of work published etc if they like it then you are in.
