Molecules that mimic the brain

No matter how far advanced computing technology gets, it still by no means matches the computing power of the human brain. Or so we thought!

The human brain is so complex that it can manage to simultaneously carry out sixteen times more operations than a regular computer transistor. But researchers have managed to create a computer from molecules which will work in a similar manner as the brain.

It is believed that once this method has been perfected this new idea could be able to perform around a thousand times more operations than the transistor can, this would make this a very powerful competitor to the computer chip and could herald a new era in micro technology, enabling devices to be much smaller and more powerful.
